Located at the southern border of the development, the Allwine Prairie is a 160-acre nature preserve managed by the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The landscape includes grassland, ponds and wooded stands of box elder, silver maple, dogwood and plum trees.
The Prairie is a haven for this area’s natural woodland animals as well. The University has recorded over 100 species of birds in the preserve. White-tailed deer and beaver are also common.
